MAGPIES HELP THE SALVATION ARMY
Dallas, TX – On Saturday December 9th a
motley crew of Magpies, Colonials and their significant others ventured down to
the Salvation Army Christmas and Disaster Relief warehouse to perform a little
volunteer work. The work performed
included helping the Salvos sort, bag and distribute donated gifts for over
50,000 children and elderly citizens as part of the Salvation Army/Channel 5
Angel Tree Program.
The program involves caring citizens selecting an “angel” from trees placed in various Metroplex shopping malls and fulfilling the Angel’s wish list by purchasing an item or items on that wish list. These toys are then taken to the Salvation Army main distribution center and it is here that the Magpies and Colonials leant their able bodies to help get these toys to where they needed to go. More information on this remarkable program can be found at The Salvation Army.
A strong
off-season of recruiting has helped the Dallas Magpies comfortably beat the
Austin Crows this weekend in Austin.

The Dallas Magpies notched up their
second win of the year on the road against the Atlanta Kookaburras on Saturday
afternoon in perfect Atlanta May weather. The Magpies making their first travel
game of the year were worried that injuries from key players Benjie Bliss
(groin), Jared Ray (ankle), Glen Paton (shoulder), Grant Cambell (wrist), and
Jess Wortman (finger) were going to affect the outcome of this game, but
evening things out saw Atlanta put 3 of their key players (2 revolution

from the beginning. [Full Story].

Milwaukee ahead by a 2-1 advantage, the Magpies utilized a victory against the
Bombers in round 1 of the MAAFL in 2005 to springboard their undefeated season.

Saturday I managed to convince him to shake off the hang over and go practice

KICKING IT WITH THE WOMBATS – PART TWO!!

I attended
my second Wombat practice this past Saturday. It was a typical swelteringly hot and
humid day in the Merlion City.
Being a "rookie" to their team, I was tasked with icing the
beer for after practice. I'm not
sure what fitness book says that a beer after exercise is good, but these guys
are adamant believers. [Full Story].

KICKING IT WITH THE WOMBATS!!
By Charles
Richardson in Singapore- March 28th 2006
I'm
staffed in Singapore and unable to join the Magpies in their quest to defend
last year's championship (at least for the first half of the season), so I'm
left looking for other teams to train/play with. Fortunately, Singapore is
chock-full of Aussie expats so it took just a bit of Googling before I found
the Singapore Wombats Football Club. I spent a few days talking to their
recruiting manager, Bill, and was set up for practice on the following Saturday. I showed up to practice a bit nervous
